丛书的作者大都是从事“英语作为第二语言教学”的资深教授以及从事应用语言学或相关学科研究的高级研究人员,例如:H·G·威多森是伦敦大学教育学院的对外英语教授;世界级大师H·H·斯特恩曾担任安大略教育研究学院现代语言中心主任,是加拿大卓越的教学法专家之一;R·埃利斯是美国费城坦普尔大学教育学院教授,长期从事作为第二语言的英语教学和研究工作;J·辛克莱是英国伯明翰大学的现代英语教授,以一直致力于建立和改进COBUILD语料库而闻名于世。
